From an 18-bed hospital opened by a young surgeon in 1894, to the 280-bed acute care facility of today, Robinson Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in Portage County and is setting the pace for healthcare today.

Located in Ravenna, Ohio, Robinson Memorial Hospital is a progressive 280-bed facility serving the residents of Portage County and surrounding communities. The second-largest employer in the county, Robinson Memorial Hospital includes a network of two urgent care facilities and physician practices throughout Portage County. Robinson Memorial Hospital is recognized as one of the best places to work in Northeast Ohio by the Employer's Resource Council and has earned Magnet Recognition status, which signifies the highest level of patient care.

The mission of Robinson Memorial Hospital is to provide high-quality, caring and cost effective services; to inspire staff to exceed the expectations of our patients and their families; and to achieve financial results to ensure its continued success.

In support of the hospital's mission, Robinson Memorial Hospital has been reaching out to the communities it serves to make healthcare more accessible and convenient. The hospital offers many outreach facilities throughout the county, including:

Robinson Memorial Hospital has many Centers of Excellence, including a family-centered birth center, cardiovascular center and emergency department. The hospital has been a part of Portage County for over 107 years and continues to grow to serve the healthcare needs of the Greater Portage County Area.

In 1894, Wilford W. White, M.D., a young surgeon, saw the need for a hospital to treat accident victims in the area. Dr. White, who was also instrumental in early plans for what is now The Cleveland Clinic, came to Ravenna after completing his studies at the Western Reserve Medical College. He purchased a home on East Main Street in Ravenna, and the facility became known as The White Hospital, housing 18 beds and an operating room.

Since our beginnings in Ravenna, Robinson Memorial Hospital has continued to grow and expand to meet the changing healthcare needs of the residents of the greater Portage County area. Through all the years and all the improvements, one thing has always remained the driving force of Robinson Memorial Hospital, its commitment to the residents of the Greater Portage County Area.
