Workforce Connection makes it easier to find the best worker for
the job. In addition to Internet job posting and worker search
provided by
SCOTI, our agencies are
continually working with people with varied skills and backgrounds
and matching them to appropriate job openings. We strive to
provide our local employers with a pool of qualified,
ready-to-work applicants. The Ohio Industrial
Training Program provides training resources for manufacturers
and related industries. If you have any questions, contact
us. Please note that, while the services of the Portage Workforce
Connection are free, some participating agencies charge fees for

supervisory staff or employees. Employers may choose from seminars
or call for tailor-made classes on other topics.

Employer
can receive incentives of $350 per month for a period of up to six
months for on-the-job training incentives or subsidized employment
services when they hire individuals who are receiving cash
benefits from the departments of human services.
Employers are eligible to receive up to $8,500 over a two-year
period in Work Opportunity Tax credits for employment of long-term
welfare participants.
Through Ohio Works First, employers can receive up to 35 percent
of the wages paid to employees. |

offers Ohio businesses several innovative programs for support:
services for retention of employees who have disabilities;
assistance with screening, matching and recruiting qualified
people with disabilities for quality jobs; employer education and
technical assistance on disability awareness, disability
management, rehabilitation technology and ADA compliance; and
consultation on several financial incentives available to hire and
employ people with disabilities.
Typical employee retention services
may include vocational assessment, vocational training, job
coaching and other services to overcome limitations caused by
physical, emotional or developmental disabilities.
To be eligible, a person must: have
a disability which constitutes or results in a substantial
impediment to employment; be able to benefit from services in
terms of an employment outcome; and require services to prepare

State
of Ohio Industrial Training Program
The Ohio
Industrial Training Program (OITP) assists manufacturing and
manufacturing-related industries by financially supporting
employee training. OITP provides grants of up to 50% of allowable
training costs to an individual company. Training providers are
usually one of Ohio's educational institutions which include:
vocational schools, technical colleges or universities.
