Quick Tips for Using the Internet

BE PATIENT - Sometimes connecting to web sites and opening web pages may take several seconds to load, depending on the complexity of the page and the speed of your computer. Your pointer will turn into a "sand clock" while the page is loading. For example, this page will take approximately 40 seconds to load if you are using a 28.8 bps modem. Page load time may also be slower during peak Internet use, which is generally on weekdays in the afternoon and early evening.

HELP - You can click on the HELP command (at the top, above the HOME button) which will give you step-by-step instructions on how to do many things by using the browser.

QUIT - If you want to quit at any time, all you need to do is click the STOP button. Or, to completely disconnect, click the "X" in the top, right corner. REMINDER, if you are using a modem with dial-up, make sure you disconnect from the Internet to free up your phone line.
