JOB SEARCH CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

JOB CLUB -
Working together to find work is the way to go. We will learn the different sources of employment and work as a group to find employment.

INTRODUCTION TO JOB SEARCH-
Job Search classroom activities. We will go over the rules, have introductions, ice breaker. We will also go over the goals assignments and results.

INFORMATION GATHERING-
Job-hunting involves presenting yourself in the best light possible. We will learn what information to gather to achieve this

SKILL BUILDING
Employment skills are what employers are looking for. We will identify your employment skills and how to develop more.

THE APPLICATION
Most employers require you to complete an application for employment. We will identify the do’s and don’t for applications.

BASIC RESUME
A resume is the best way for an employment candidate to sell themselves to a employers. We will explore the components of a resume and how to create one.

ADEP-
Drugs and Alcohol can be an extreme barrier to employment. This program is designed to educate on the effects of these barriers and what we can do about them. (Must attend all sessions)

MONEY MANAGEMENT-
Learning to manage your money is important whether you are employed or unemployed. Come learn techniques to help you manage your money. (Must attend all sessions)

DIFFERENT TYPES OF RESUME
We will look at different types of resumes and learn which one to use.

COVER LETTER
A cover letter is a way to finish what you need to express to employers. We will explore its contents and how to use it.

IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOW UP
Follow up with phone calls and thank you letters is important a successful job search. We will look at what should be included in them.

JOB SEARCH PRINCIPALS
Discover the important elements in a job search.

INTERVIEWING
We will review all aspects of interviewing; from how you dress, to what you say. We will help overcome the anxiety of the interview.

MOCK INTERVIEWS
It’s time to practice. We will set up a real interview for you to practice.

COMPUTER CLASSES AVAILABLE

  • BASIC COMPUTER- This class is basic-basics how to use a mouse to how to open programs.

  • BASIC WORD- This class will teach you how to make your basic documents.

  • BASIC EXPLORE- This class will open the doors to the Internet.
